What is School Direct

School Direct is a school based postgraduate route into teaching that results in Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). It gives the trainee the chance to work and learn alongside teachers within the full time setting of a school.

There are two School Direct Routes to choose from

  • School Direct Salaried:  Colleagues will earn a salary while they train. Applicants must have three years full time work experience (outside their postgraduate degree) before taking up the training post.
  • School Direct non-salaried: This is for graduates who want to have a full time training programme within school but are willing and able to pay their own fees. Trainees may be eligible for a bursary of up to £30,000 to support them while they train
