Astor College is a large secondary school with 11-18 intake, welcoming children from all backgrounds and abilities. By working and training at Astor you will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the lives of our students. We hold a specialism in the visual Arts, and endeavour to enrich all levels and aspects of the curriculum by the use of visual literacy. We believe that if young people engage with and enjoy what they see in all aspects of their lives, levels of achievement can be significantly raised. From the beginning of the academic year you will be treated like a member of staff so you will feel part of the team from day one. We have a close and supportive staff body with excellent staff retention. You will be trained in a supportive and aspirational environment, and will be assigned a subject mentor from your subject area. At Astor College we have worked with trainee teachers for many years and many of our senior positions are held by teachers recruited through the employment based training routes.
Astor College is a part of many wider networks including The Teacher Development Trust and Durrington Research School. There are excellent CPD opportunities available to all staff, including joint ITE sessions with Dover Grammar School for Boys.
